WI-FI THERMOSTATS AND INFANTED FIXTURES

11 February 2019

In recent months one of the most discussed topics is global warming and the impact that human activity is having on climate change.

In the United States of America these days, we have temperatures that reach -50 °, while in Australia it is going through the hottest summer of all time (temperatures up to 46 °). A difference of almost 100 ° between one extreme of the world, is not completely normal.

But what can we do to improve the air in the cities we live in and therefore limit pollution damage?

Having a solution in your pocket for such a big problem is very difficult, but we can understand what we can do to improve the environment in which we live.

The first thing to do is the change of our habits on the use of heating.

Learning how to manage the heating in our homes, thus saving in the bill several hundred euro, as well as contributing to the reduction of the emission of Co2 and Pm10 in the air, is a small step.

According to an article published by Sole24ore "the main responsible for the presence of Pm10 in the air of Italian cities are heating systems and not cars. Exactly, boilers, stoves and fireplaces. Active only from mid-October to mid-April, at least in the plain areas, yet responsible for more than 60% of fine particles. "

This assessment was made by the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (Ispra), which drafted a final report on the quality of the urban environment between 2005 and 2015.

In Italian cities, one of the biggest problems is the often reckless use of heating due to both a human error but also due to old and never modernized systems.

The technology once again runs to our help with the WiFi thermostats.

There are several companies that produce smart wifi thermostats, able to understand our habits: how long we are at home, what temperature we would like to have in different time slots, managing the boilers' ignition according to our habits, thanks also to the geolocalization function of our smartphones.

What do we mean by Geolocation?

Our smartphones have an antenna, called GPS, able to track the position in which we are at all times. When we are out of the house (about 100 meters away) the smartphone automatically sends a signal to the home's wifi thermostat, which automatically lowers the intensity of the boiler, reactivating it only when we return to our home.

Humidity sensors

Some of the best WiFi thermostats have humidity and temperature sensors that can be placed outside our windows or fixtures in your home or office.

These sensors communicate in real time to our wifi thermostat, the percentage of external humidity and the temperature, so that automatically our wifi thermostat will regulate the boiler operation to keep the temperature of our choice constant without unnecessary waste. In fact, if the outside temperature is not too low and does not affect the internal temperature of the house (it depends a lot on how much our walls and frames are thermally insulated) the thermostat will not turn on the heating, greatly reducing waste.

But how much do they save?

According to a research carried out by the internet of things observatory of the Milan Polytechnic on the Smart Home: "the savings vary greatly among users depending on the thermal preferences, the air conditioning systems and the thermal insulation capacity of each home."

Indicatively, the average savings range from 16% for young couples up to 28% for families with children.

The Polytechnic has estimated in addition that if there was a widespread adoption of wifi thermostats, smart solutions for heating combined with thermal insulating fixtures, would reduce CO2 emissions by over 54,000 tons per year, positively impacting the environment and with an annual saving of over 70 million euros for citizens (example calculated on a study carried out in the Milan area), around 100 euros per family.

If you want buy a beautiful house in Italy, the first thing that you have to do is check the fixtures and buy a wifi thermostat for your boiler.

If you have not yet decided to change your fixtures and want to take advantage of it, given the extension of the 2019 bonus bill, guaranteeing you considerable savings both on assembly and on products but also on the bill in the coming years, Legno service & Art it is here to accompany you, starting from the choice of the best fixtures for you and their installation, helping you even in the process of obtaining the incentives.

We begin to improve the air we breathe, let's make it all together, consciously.
